I really will be posting from now on!!

So I know in the last two posts I said ideas going to post more often. Well now I have downloaded an app for it I really will be posting more often.

Although it may not always be on here.

Yes that's right, I'm now posting on behalf of Pinupzania.

Go find their blog!

Here's my face to finish this post.

Thursday 5 April 2012

What a difference a year makes.

Okay firstly, I admit I really should blog more, but here it is: my new resolution to start blogging, call it an easter resolution along with not eating as much chocolate as soon as this holiday is up!

Since reading my previous post I have realised how much I have accomplished in such a short amount of time.

Not only have I had pictures published all over the place in magazines such as Vintage Life and Cambridge County Life websites such as Kate's Clothing , Reestore, Rock Industry Magazine, and some more I can't remember right now... (Need to update this list at some point.) But I have also started up a new comany Pinupzania with a worldly accredited photographer Stuart Runham and beautiful Roxy Love set to launch on the 15th April!

I have had the chance to work with some amazing stylists, make-up artists, models, clothing designers, photographers and studios, if you want to see some of my work you can check out my Facebook Fan Page or my Model Mayhem Page

I've run out of steam already on this blog, but this was more of a hey how you doing blogger anyway!

Sunday 20 March 2011

Lets start with the past!

Okay, so lets get this history thing out of the way.

Before September 2010 I hadn't been on stage since I was 8 years old, and even then I was a badly dressed Frog in what I recall as an awful school play. I have no history of dance nor drama.  This time last year I would have laughed in your face if you told me I was going to be a Burlesque Performer / Model, or anything that involved looking or feeling confident, how I learned to be confident in front of the camera I will never know.

Oh, which reminds me before I start rambling along, not everyone is clued up about burlesque, so let me elucidate - burlesque is so much more than just a strip tease, in fact the very word burlesque derives from the Italian word of burla - which actually means a joke or ridicule. It's a variety act, some sing, some dance, okay so some people do strip, but not in the same way as you would as if you were on top of a bar (for one thing the costumes are a lot more expensive!) But the very word burlesque is rather confused itself, many of you may have seen the recent film with Cher and Christina, this is very different to what I see as burlesque, but everyone has their own opinion of it, some can be very negative and see it as degrading, others see the beauty of it and see how it empowers the performer. If you want to see more you have to check out Dirty Martini [Link] she is my favorite performer, and it is from watching endless amounts of her youtube clips that I really learned about what makes a good performance!

But anyway here's a quick time-line of how I have got to where I am.
One day in September when I was meant to be at college I was taking a stroll down by Castle Mound when I saw a new little row of shops, on further investigation I saw that there was in fact a little boutique, curious I went inside and can I just say WHAT A SHOP, the clothes, the corsets, the mask and needless to say the staff and service! It was Lady K's burlesque boutique. Anyway to cut a long story short out of the blue I decided to try on a steel boned corset, and it felt amazing. Truly amazing. They then offered me a free mini-photoshoot. Why not I thought. Then the addiction started. I loved being in front of the camera, and when I received my photos I put them up on Model Mayhem around a month later and got a few more shoots from there. Firstly with Jez Brown in Esquires, this took place in November, shortly followed by a shoot with Aethereal Visions in an amazing studio in London. Then from there I worked with a few photographers I don't care to mention the names of because to be honest the stuff they produced wasn't that great. The next photographer I worked with who I still really enjoy working with was Harry C.

The three photographers I have mentioned and the guys at Lady Ks, I just want say how amazing and supportive they have been, Kendall, Steve, Karen, Jez, Stu and Harry, you guys have played such a big part to where I have got to and what I have become. Thank you so much. Also want to say thanks to my Mum, for so many things.

Wow, I've also just noticed how massive this blog is getting, if anyone is still reading this I will be amazed, if no one has I don't really mind, this is mainly for me anyway. I'm going to wrap this up soon guys don't worry!

Right where are we...Hmm...Ah okay. From all of these shoots I started becoming a lot more confident within myself, the body-conscious tomboy started to disappear (but might I add not too much, I still love my hoodies, cars, bikes, camping, etc) then came the day that Lady K decided that perhaps I was ready to perform, it was a Valentine's special in February 2011, and for some unknown reason I never really got nervous. I think the amount of time I put into studying burlesque really paid off. Anyway wrapping up, the performance went better than I had ever expected it would, and I had so much fun being on stage under the lights. Even just being backstage was an experience within itself. Once again I would like to thank everyone for their support! Again Kendall, Steve and Cathy, thanks for putting up with my booty shaking in your houses :)

Since this I have had some fantastic shoots and am currently working on my next routine for a charity performance this Saturday in Gamlingay, which I will then use again for the big performance I have at the end of May. I think this about the right time to wrap up, I will elaborate more on said performances after they happen.

Right, well I'm off to bed as I have just remembered I have shoot tomorrow morning! I will no doubt post again soon because I must say I have really enjoyed writing this. Love you all!!! xx
